Using the ReadyPixl desktop app
How to install the ReadyPixl desktop app, start the free trial, use the local AI upscaler, and set up right-click actions.
ReadyPixl Desktop is the paid app version of ReadyPixl for Windows and macOS.
Use it when you want ReadyPixl outside your browser, local AI upscaling, right-click actions, and automation tools for bigger batches.
What you get
The desktop app includes the same editor idea as the web version:
- Drop in one picture or a whole folder.
- Pick tools from the tool row.
- Build a pipeline β a list of edits you run on every picture.
- Save presets so you can reuse the same setup later.
- Download one image or the whole batch.
It also adds desktop-only tools:
- Upscaler (free) β local AI upscaling at 2x, 4x, or 8x.
- Right-click actions in Windows Explorer or macOS Finder.
- CLI / Automation settings for people who process folders from scripts or terminal tools.
- Local app updates through the official ReadyPixl release channel.

Use the free local upscaler
The desktop app has a desktop-only tool called Upscaler (free).
Use it when a picture is too small and you need a larger version for print, listings, or mockups.
- Add Upscaler (free) to your pipeline.
- Pick a scale:
- 2x for a normal size bump.
- 4x for small AI images or low-resolution art.
- 8x only when you really need a large jump.
- Put Reposition after it if you need a specific canvas size.
- Download the result.
The first time you use it, ReadyPixl may download the upscaler files it needs. Let that finish before closing the app.
Set up right-click actions
Right-click actions let you process images without opening the full editor first.
On Windows, they appear in Windows Explorer.
On Mac, they appear in Finder under the Services menu.
To turn them on:
- Open ReadyPixl Desktop.
- Go to Automation.
- Turn on the Explorer or Finder integration.
- Save a few presets in the editor.
- Assign those presets to Preset A, Preset B, Preset C, or Preset D.
- Choose how outputs should be saved:
- Suffix beside original keeps the original and adds a new file.
- Overwrite original replaces the original.
- Create subfolder puts outputs in a new folder.
Then right-click an image or folder and choose a ReadyPixl action.
Common actions:
- Open in ReadyPixl β opens the selected images in the editor.
- Process with Preset A-D β runs the preset you assigned.
- Upscale Images β runs the desktop upscaler.
- Compress Images β makes files smaller.
If right-click actions do not show up
Try this:
- Close and reopen ReadyPixl Desktop.
- Go back to Automation and turn the integration off, then on again.
- On Mac, open System Settings β Login Items & Extensions β Finder and make sure the ReadyPixl actions are enabled.
