AI image cleanup: ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Ideogram, Kimi and more

End-to-end recipe for turning AI-generated designs from ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Ideogram, Kimi and other generators into clean, ready-to-use files — with what to watch for on each.

Every AI image generator leaves its own kind of mess: dirty transparent backgrounds, uneven colored backgrounds, corner watermarks, small output sizes. The cleanup pipeline is mostly the same — what changes is which cleanup step you lead with.

The shared pipeline

Save it as a preset per generator — e.g. "ChatGPT cleanup", "Grok cleanup".

Generator by generator

ChatGPT

ChatGPT can now make transparent PNGs, so you often don't need a background remover at all.
But its transparency is often dirty — semi-transparent pixels you can't see, sometimes all over the background. They print as dirty edges and stop Trim from cropping properly.
Lead with Transparency Cleaner at 20–30%, and drop Color Removal V2 from the pipeline. Then Trim, upscale, Reposition.

Gemini and Kimi

Gemini adds a small watermark in the bottom-right corner; Kimi adds one in the bottom-left.
Add Corner Erase with Fill Mode Patch and Patch Mode Auto — it finds and removes both, on every image, and skips images that don't have one.

Grok and other lower-quality generators

Backgrounds that look flat often aren't, so Color Removal V2 struggles.
Ask the generator for a neon green background on every image, then use Green BG Remover at Threshold 60. Much more consistent in bulk.

Ideogram

Works great with the Chrome extension. Ideogram's share button sits in the top-right corner of images — move the ReadyPixl + button to the top left in the extension settings.

Any other generator

The pipeline shape is the same. Test on 1–2 images first — every generator has slightly different backgrounds and edges.

Edit while you generate (Chrome extension)

Don't download raw images and fix them later. Open the ReadyPixl Chrome extension next to your generator, load your preset (e.g. "ChatGPT cleanup"), turn on Auto download, and click + on each image as it's generated. Every image lands in your Downloads folder already cleaned, upscaled and on the right canvas.

Step-by-step (any AI source)

Generate — ideally with a flat background (or neon green, or transparent in ChatGPT).
Open ReadyPixl (web, extension or desktop) and drop the images in.
Add the cleanup step for your source (see above).
Add Corner Erase if the source adds a watermark.
Add Trim (or turn on Auto-Trim in Color Removal V2).
Upscale: the free Upscaler at 4x (start on Standard quality), or AI Upscale (10 credits) if your computer struggles or you need 8x.
Add Reposition if you need an exact canvas size.
Download all — and save the pipeline as a preset.

Tips

Test on 1–2 images first. AI outputs vary a lot.
Generate extras. Run 3–5 variants per concept through the pipeline and pick the best.
Keep sources separate. A mixed batch uses the same settings for everything — usually one source comes out worse. Use one preset per generator.
Use presets with AI agents. With the desktop app's CLI, you can tell Claude "use the ReadyPixl skill with the ChatGPT cleanup preset on this folder".

What AI cleanup can't fix

Bad anatomy / warped subjects — regenerate with a better prompt.
Misspelled or garbled text — regenerate, or add text with Watermark Text.
Glass, smoke, liquid, hair — color-based removal struggles. Try Halftone (for dark backgrounds) or AI Background Removal (Recraft 15 / Ideogram 20 credits).
Very low-quality generations — bad in, bad out.
